My Lockbox

If you care about your privacy, than you would probably want more than what your operating system has to offer. It takes more than setting a folder to hidden to prevent someone from accessing your personal files. My Lockbox works like a vault for your files. It locks and hides a folder of your choosing and you can unlock it only from the software's controls panel, which is password protected.

It takes less than a minute to install My Lockbox on your computer. It comes in Free and Professional versions and it works on 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. You should also know that both NTFS and FAT volume types are supported and the system requirements are low.

For security purposes, you will be asked to create a new password before anything else, when you run the software for the first time. You will also need to specify a folder on your hard drive. My Lockbox will use that folder as a safe for your data.

Besides the executable's shortcut, the software will place a shortcut for your protected folder as well. You can set the application to protect a different folder at any time on its compact interface. Once you store your data in the protected folder, you can instantly lock it or unlock it with different options, located on the same interface.

When locked, the folder will disappear and it will not show up if you set the system to show hidden folders. If you attempt to open the folder with its shortcut, the application will prompt you for the password. For increased security, My Lockbox can lock your folder automatically after a certain period of time or when the computer goes to standby or hibernate mode.
